Dr. h.c. Marian Dymalski, MBA, DBA, Member of the Collegium Humanum Business Consultative Council, decorated with the Olympic Order of the IOC

Doctor Honoris Causa Marian Dymalski, MBA, DBA – Vice President of the Board of AZS, Vice President of the International Federation of Academic Sports (FISU), Member of the Presidium of the Board of PKOI and of the Collegium Humanum Business Consultative Council, was honoured with the highest award of the International Olympic Committee – the Olympic Order. The awarding ceremony took place on 15 November in Łazienki Królewskie in Warsaw and was also attended by prof. dr. hab. Paweł Czarnecki, dr. h.c. – Provost of Collegium Humanum.

 

The Olympic Order was awarded to dr. h.c. Marian Dymalski in recognition of his enormous contribution to the development of academic sports in Poland and in the wider world. The award was presented personally by the President of the International Olympic Committee, Mr Thomas Bach.

 

The award ceremony was attended by many distinguished guests related to the world of sports, including President of WADA – Witold Bańka, Minister of Sport and Tourism – Kamil Bortniczuk, President of PKOI – prof. Andrzej Kraśnicki, PKOI Secretary General – Adam Krzesiński, PKOI – Vice Presidents: Mieczysław Nowicki, Tomasz Poręba and Apoloniusz Tajner, the IOC delegation, PKOI Deputy Secretary General – Iwona Łotysz, President of the Main Board of the Academic Sports Association and Rector of the University of Warsaw – prof. Alojzy Nowak as well as the AZS delegation. The academic community was represented by the Provost of Collegium Humanum, prof. dr. hab. Paweł Czarnecki, dr. h.c.

 

Dr. h.c. Marian Dymalski is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Wrocław. In the years 1977–1979, he was the Secretary of the Regional Olympic Club, from 1979 he was the Secretary of the AZS Wrocław Environmental Club, and in the years 1992–1995, he was entrusted with the role of a member of the Youth Council with the President of the Republic of Poland. He is a great enthusiast of the development of women sports in Poland – he founded the women’s AZS Club in Wrocław, which achieved impressive sports results on the European arena. He founded the first student Olympic club in Wrocław and was its chairman. In 2017, he was awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Physical Culture in Lviv. Dr. Marian Dymalski has been received many awards, including the title of the best Sports Manager, the Gold and Silver Badge of a Meritorious Physical Culture Activist, the Gold Medal of Merit for the Polish Olympic Movement. In 2019, he received the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta from President Andrzej Duda.

 

Currently, dr. h.c. Marian Dymalski is the Vice President of the Main Board of the Academic Sports Association (AZS), Vice President of the International Federation of Academic Sports (FISU), member of the FISU Executive Committee and a member of the Presidium of the Board of the Polish Olympic Committee.

 

On 29 June 2020, HM prof. dr. hab. Paweł Czarnecki – Provost of Collegium Humanum nominated dr. h.c. Marian Dymalski as a member of the Collegium Humanum Business Consultative Council.
