Inauguration of the academic year in the University branch in Rzeszów

The third academic year in the Rzeszów Branch of Collegium Humanum has been officially inaugurated. The ceremony was attended by the University authorities, representatives of the first-year students as well as many invited guests. In the academic year 2021/2022, there will be about 1,200 young people studying at the University, including over 500 students in the first year in the fields of Psychology and Pedagogy.

His Magnificence prof. dr hab. Paweł Czarnecki, MBA, LL.M, MPH, Dr h.c. gave an inaugural speech in which he thanked the employees of the Rzeszów Branch of the University as well as students for supporting the University throughout the past year. Already well-applauded and an extremely interesting inaugural lecture – “Society of the future. Transhumanism” – was delivered by Rev. prof. dr hab. Tadeusz Bąk – member of the Polish Accreditation Committee.

The most important element of the Inauguration was, for obvious reasons, the matriculation of the new first-year students of Psychology and Pedagogy, which was conducted by the Provost. After completing the oath, students participating in the ceremony received symbolic badges of Collegium Humanum.

Moreover, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development of education, HM the Provost was honoured with a “Friend of Rzeszów” badge awarded by the Association of Friends of Rzeszów and represented by Mr. Krzysztof Kadłuczko, its Secretary.

Another important event during the ceremony was the presentation of appointments to the Business Consultative Council of the Collegium Humanum Branch in Rzeszów. They were received by Ms. Krystyna Wróblewska, Director of the Podkarpackie Centre for Teacher Education in Rzeszów. The decision to establish the Council was made by the Provost. In this way, the University community would like to develop the cooperation with its partners, for example through the possibility of consulting with the Council different strategies and development plans as well as the scope and areas of cooperation with the wider socio-economic environment in Rzeszów and the Podkarpackie Voivodeship.

The President of the University Student Union, Sebastian Krauz, sent his warm words to the participants of the Inauguration as well as the whole academic community.

After the end of the official part of the ceremony, results of the 1st Subcarpathian Essay Competition on “Youth in times of pandemic” were announced. The total prize pool was PLN 150,000. There were three scholarships in the amount of PLN 25,000 to be won to cover the costs of studies in a selected field offered by Collegium Humanum in the capital of the Podkarpacie Region. Due to the high literary level of the submitted works, the Provost of Collegium Humanum decided to increase the prize pool by additional three scholarships, each amounting to PLN 25,000.

The competition was organized by the University Branch in Rzeszów in cooperation with the Podkarpackie Centre for Teacher Education, and was addressed to ambitious high school students. The submitted works were assessed in two stages, based on the Competition Regulations. The evaluation was made by a jury composed of experts in the field of literature and the Polish language. The 1st stage jury assessed the works submitted for the competition and awarded points. Whereas the jury of the 2nd stage determined the order of places based on the scores.
