Our Provost prof. Paweł Czarnecki takes part in the Economic Forum 2020 in Karpacz

Between 8-10 September 2020, the XXX Economic Forum was held – this year exceptionally in Karpacz. This annual and international meeting of various representatives from economic and political circles has also become an arena of much needed discussions on the subject of crisis of trust across the media spectrum.

Professor Czarnecki took part in a special panel entitled “Objective media. How to build social trust in mass media”.

Among other distinguished guests, including Juliusz Braun, member of the National Media Council, Paweł Lewandowski, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as well as Cezary Szymanek, editor-in-chief of the Rr.pl portal, Professor Czarnecki spoke about the role of ethics in the contemporary journalism and the need to change journalists’ education programmes in this area. Together with other invited panelists, Professor Czarnecki was also looking for answers to different questions about the reasons for growing distrust in relation to media, possible systemic sources of this phenomenon or the possibility of implementing the postulates of journalistic objectivity in practice.

After the debate, Professor Czarnecki took part in a substantive discussion with editor Robert Bohdanowicz from Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
