Provost of Collegium Humanum, prof. dr. hab. Paweł Czarnecki, becomes Honorary Consul of Uzbekistan

On 30 November 2022, at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Warsaw, HM Provost of Collegium Humanum, prof. dr. hab. Paweł Czarnecki, received an appointment to become the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Poland. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Mr Vladimir Norov, while the nomination was handed over by the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Poland, Mr Bakhrom Babaev.

“This appointment to be an Honorary Consul is a commitment to further work for the development of economic, social and educational relations between Poland and the Republic of Uzbekistan. I want to accept this honour as a patriotic commitment. A good example of Polish-Uzbek relations is the opening and operation of a branch of Collegium Humanum in Andijan. It is an investment in the economy, but most importantly also in human capital. We are proud to be able to contribute to the democratisation and Europeanisation of Uzbekistan through education,” said the Provost.

Collegium Humanum is the first and, to date, the only Polish university to have opened its branch in Asia. Our office is located in Andijan, a city in the east of Uzbekistan and it has been operative since 27 October 2021.

“Economic and educational relations between Uzbekistan and Poland are at an extremely high level. Both countries are good partners in this cooperation. The appointment of an Honorary Consul in a historic city of Poznań is another step in deepening this cooperation in its real dimension. We have been very pleased with the involvement of our new Honorary Consul, prof. Paweł Czarnecki, on the educational level, which has been best translated by enabling Uzbek students to study at Collegium Humanum,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Mr Vladimir Norov.

The ceremony was attended by a representative of the Minister of Education and Science, prof. Przemysław Czarnek.

“We are very glad that Polish-Uzbek relations are taking such a concrete dimension. Collegium Humanum is not only the first Polish but also the first European university to have set up its branch in Uzbekistan. To us, this is the most tangible example of a Polish-Uzbek cooperation. We are particularly pleased that we have contributed to improving the competences of the managerial staff in Uzbekistan,” said the Plenipotentiary of the Minister of Education and Science, Mr Bartosz Rybak.

The ceremony was also attended by Vice Provost for Development at Collegium Humanum, Mr Paweł Dulski, Chairman of the Polish-Uzbek Parliamentary Group, MP Paweł Bejda, President of the Management Board of Pracodawcy RP, Mr Rafał Baniak and Vice President of Poczta Polska S.A., Mr Wiesław Włodek.
