New Provost of Collegium Humanum
The new Provost of Collegium Humanum, dr hab. Ilona Makowska, has been closely associated with the educational sector for many years. Her achievements in science, art and management have made her one of the leading experts in the field of visual communication, infographics and modern technologies.
The priority of the new Provost is not only the development of the educational programme of the University, but also the promotion of innovation, interdisciplinarity and a global view of education. Professor Makowska emphasizes that she wants to support the development of students’ individual passions and talents, while creating an inspiring academic environment whose coherent functioning should translate into professional and personal success of each and every graduate.
During her extensive scientific career, Professor Makowska gained experience as Vice Dean at the University of Zielona Góra, Deputy Vice Rector for the Quality of Education at the University of Zielona Góra, Vice Rector of the University of Security in Poznań, Dean of the Faculty at WSB Merito University in Bydgoszcz and Vice Rector for Environmental Cooperation at WSB University in Poznań. In addition, she also directed postgraduate studies “Communication and creating the image of an enterprise”.
In 1999, she obtained a PhD Degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań, and her habilitation dissertation was recognized for its extensive documentation of social problems and original definitions of discussed issues. As a lecturer and manager of the course “Design in Business” at the WSB University in Toruń, she initiated many innovative projects in the field of e-learning, creative industry and security of urban space. Her scientific work has also gained recognition internationally, as confirmed by numerous projects and grants.
“I know all the stages of a team management process. In my work, I always manage in a way to make the employees willing, rather than forced, to work. I do highlight the importance of providing students with the highest quality of services. I respect employees and students alike, and their well-being is my top priority – which is actually what Collegium Humanum needs right now”, indicated professor Makowska while applying for the position of a Provost. She was appointed to this position on 29 February 2024.
